We are thrilled to announce Paula Scher: Maps, a show of paintings and hand painted prints detailing the implications and distortions in maps.
Taught by her father who worked as the Coordinator of Nation’s Mapping for the United States, Paula understands that maps are not fact. There will always be a level of distortion whether it be from the flattening of land or the hierarchy of information. She began painting her overloaded maps to highlight the bias and implications maps have and teach this concept to others.
“I use the form of the map to express what, for lack of a better term, is abstract expressionist information.” -Paula Scher
Join us for an opening reception Thursday, March 26th from 6-8pm
