Mary ann Moorman

Mary Ann Moorman (born1932) is an American photographer and eyewitness most famous for capturing a Polaroid image mere moments after President John F. Kennedy was fatally shot in Dallas on November 22, 1963. Standing just feet from the presidential motorcade, she took one of only a few still photographs of the fatal headshot—timed between frames 315 and 316 of the Zapruder film.

Moorman’s Polaroid quickly became one of the most scrutinized pieces of visual evidence of the assassination. She briefly attempted to auction the original in 2013 and has shared her perspective in documentaries—including a 2013 PBS feature—remaining a pivotal witness to one of America’s watershed moments
